This gallery was created to express my concern and anxiety in this politically charged time. However, I always add a touch of humor and optimism to the story!
This gallery is about my own family. I never focus on remembrance in portraits. Sometimes, it is a family scene or a particular moment, and it is depicted more allegorically and abstractly.
Since my retirement, I have been able to work regularly in my studio and have been quite productive. I sometimes rework old pieces as well since I now have time.
Climate change is affecting us daily, and it certainly affects my artmaking. The challenge is how to make my expression still hopeful and to believe in our humanity to ride this big wave with positivity.
My landscapes have to have stories behind them. Some of them are fantasy landscapes.
I tell stories with my paintings. This gallery focuses on the work that is based on specific major events or retelling of other artists' stories with my own take.
These are paintings inspired by being in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. I also include other images based on my personal interest in the indigenous people of the Americas.
I love painting musicians whether they are pros, performing on stages or amateurs on streets. I love the faces, the expressions, and the body language of musicians. Also, the beauty of instruments!
These paintings are done during the spring to summer of 2020 during the Covid 19 pandemic. They are sort of reflections during this time.
These are about nature, my experience and interaction with nature.
These are scenes from the interiors with figures in action. Each scene's sense of a specific place is vital since it strengthens its narrative.
When I work on specific people, whether from photographs that I took or from other sources, I call them portraits. I never focus on the remembrance, and often use the blind contour technique.
These are paintings inspired by events and images from the East.
These are earlier paintings dated between 2011 and 2014. Many of them are also sold and no longer available.
