Love Story

acrylic on canvas, 12/2025

I painted this romantic scene in 2014 when we were staying in a house that sits on a hilltop of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. To get to the entrance of the house, we had to climb about 140 stairs or come down about 60 stairs, meaning the house is right in the middle of a long, winding staircase. It faces west, and the sunset view from there is one of the most beautiful sights in town. We often had to meander by a couple after a couple to get to our house when we hit the right timing of the sunset. This fall, I pulled out this old piece and decided to bring it more in line with my current style. If you are interested, the original can be viewed as an alternate view. The original also inspired me to make another piece from the same scene in 2014, then I again upgraded the piece this fall. It is the same gallery and is called "How Much The Heart Can Hold."
